The Science Behind Better Skin
'Acne Max' is a custom-compounded formula that includes:
Tretinoin (0.1%)
Clindamycin Phosphate (2%)
Metronidazole (0.75%)
Niacinamide (4%)
Azelaic Acid (20%)
Tretinoin (0.1%) for Acne
Uses: Effective in treating acne and reducing signs of aging.
Safety and Side Effects: Can cause skin irritation, dryness, and sensitivity. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Usage Guidelines: Should be used exactly as directed by a doctor to avoid skin irritation. Overuse may worsen skin irritation.
Serious Side Effects: Includes severe burning, stinging, or irritation of treated skin; severe skin dryness; severe redness, swelling, blistering, peeling, or crusting.
Clindamycin Phosphate (2%) for Acne
Uses: An antibiotic specifically used to control acne.
Nausea that could last up to 30 minutes, headaches, facial flushing,
vomiting, increased blood pressure in men., decrease in heart rate.
Safety and Side Effects: Should be used cautiously in atopic individuals. Has neuromuscular blocking properties and is contraindicated in individuals allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin.
Usage Guidelines: Gently apply to the entire acne-affected area. Avoid excessive use to prevent severe colitis.
General Information: Effective in reducing the number of acne lesions.
Metronidazole (0.75%) for Acne
Uses: Particularly effective in treating acne rosacea, helping to decrease redness, swelling, and pimple formation.
Safety and Side Effects: Avoid unnecessary use as it has been carcinogenic in animal studies. Not for treating viral infections.
Usage Guidelines: Apply to clean, dry skin, avoiding sensitive areas like the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.
Niacinamide (4%) for Acne
Uses: Used for treating acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Safety and Side Effects: Generally safe with minimal side effects. High doses can cause issues like stomach upset and skin rash.
Effectiveness: Comparable in effectiveness to 1% clindamycin in acne treatment.
Azelaic Acid (20%) for Acne
Uses: Used to treat mildly to moderately inflamed acne by killing acne-causing bacteria and keeping pores clean.
Safety and Side Effects: Can cause skin irritation. Rare side effects include fast heartbeat, fever, hives, and trouble breathing.
Usage Guidelines: Typically prescribed for application on the face and neck.
