Best Women's Workouts for Weight Loss

Every woman wants to look great, but all women don't feel great about the way they look. The way women look is a big part of their self-esteem, and taking better care of your body can give you more of that self-worth. There are plenty of great ways to shed pounds and get your body toned up. One of those ways is to engage in beneficial exercises regularly in order to raise your metabolism and give your major muscle groups a workout. 

Getting Your Exercise

To get the best results from your exercises, you need to challenge your body with a wide range of different moves. There are many staple exercises used in a wide range of routines, including the squat, pushup and lunge. However, it's a good idea to round out your exercise routine with many other exercises that can work different parts of your body and to keep challenging it. 

To get the best workout, stick with your staples but add in other exercises in that you will do for a few weeks. Then, change to other ones to keep your body working out various muscle groups. This also helps you to not get bored during your workout and speeds up the rate at which you lose fat. 

The Hip Raise

This exercise gives you a good workout for a number of muscles. It is primarily done for the glutes. If your glutes are not toned, it causes the top part of your pelvis to jut out. It also puts extra stress on the lower back and makes the abdomen extend forward. Toning up the glutes can make your back feel better as well as make your stomach flatter.

To do this exercise, get on the floor and lie back on it. Then, bend your knees so that your feet are resting flat on your floor. Squeeze your glutes together and use your core to raise your hips upward so that it is a straight line from your knees to your shoulders. Hold this position for about five seconds, and keep squeezing your glutes the whole time. Then, lower your hips back down to the floor. Doing two sets of 10 reps can help get those muscles toned. 

The Reverse Lunge

Lunges are great for many muscle groups, and the reverse lunge is as well. To do this one, stand up straight with your arms by your sides and your feet about hip-width apart. Then, move your left foot back and lower that leg down. Lower it until each of your legs is at a 90-degree angle. This will require the leg you lowered to be a couple of inches off the ground. Then stand up straight again. Do two sets of 10 for each side.  

The Bent-Over Row

To begin, stand up with your feet as close as possible to hip-width apart. Bend your knees a little bit. Bend over at your hips until your abdomen is parallel with the floor. Leave your arms down with the palms turned toward each other. Then, squeeze your shoulder blades toward each other as you bend your arms. Pull your elbows upward until you reach your rib cage. Hold it for a few seconds and then lower your arms back to their original position. Do three sets of 10. 

Single-Leg Deadlifts

All of the muscle groups on the back side of your body are worked with deadlifts. For women, it also challenges their balance, giving them a chance to work on that skill. First, take a pair of weights. Then, stand on your right foot. Lift your left one behind you, bending your knee, so that the lower left leg is parallel to your mat. Starting at your hips, bend forward and begin to slowly lower your body. Keep going as far as possible. Hold it for a second or two and then get back to your starting position. Do 10 reps on each side.
