While HGH, shorthand for Human Growth Hormone, may be the most popular anti-aging and performance enhancing treatment on the market, it does not come without some risks. Sermorelin acetate has become popular as an anti-aging alternative to HGH, and is said to enable you to obtain much of the same benefits of HGH therapy without some of the associated risks.
To better understand how this may benefit you, it's good to know what exactly sermorelin acetate is. Sermorelin acetate is referred to, scientifically, as growth hormone releasing factor 1-29 NH2-acetate, because it is a peptide which contains the first twenty nine amino acids that make up growth hormone. For those who do not know, a peptide is a chain of amino acids too small to be called a proper protein. This is a contributer to the fact that sermorelin functions as a growth hormone secretagogue, a fancy word for any substance that causes another one to be secreted from the body. In the case of Sermorelin Acetate, the secretion that is promoted by the presence of the peptide is growth hormone, and for this reason, sermorelin is also often known as an HGH stimulator, and is consider a fine alternative.
An important thing to understand about Sermorelin Acetate is that it promotes the natural function of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland, for those who don't know, is an endrocrine gland about the size of a pea in humans, and it secretes hormone that help control growth, blood pressure, thyroid glans, metabolism, pain relief, and temperature regulation. This is quite a bit different than direct administration of the human growth hormone.
With regards to the actual safety of the peptide over direct HGH therapy, it's been known to avoid some of the side effects alongside lesser risks of user error, such as overdose, improper use, or a lowered response to HGH therapy through the phenomenon known as Tachyphylaxis.
Sermorelin has not been associated with almost any side effects, as overdose is very difficult, if not impossible, and administration of the peptide results in a release of growth hormone more in line with what your body's normally used to, rather than the high levels that are known to accompany HGH therapy. As opposed to a method of replacing or increasing the function of the pituitary, sermorelin acetate is more used to enhance the function of the pituitary naturally, and is even known for long term increased production of HGH when injections have stopped.
Beside the obvious advantages of sermorelin and the increased level of growth hormone in the body, there's a myriad number of benefits that come with use of the peptide, the first of those being changes in body composition. As you age, body composition tends to change and fat replaces muscle, but correcting the balance in your body can promote the amount of lean muscle on your frame. Some risk factors that should make you consider sermorelin would be, if you are over fifty years of the age and have a previous bone fracture, arthritis, low body weight, or a family history of hip fractures.
Lean muscle is a concept related to lean body mass, which is the content of the body minus fat. Lean body mass is used to calculate basal metabolic rate, or the number of calories needed to keep your body functioning at rest. Lean muscle is less of a scientific term and more a term that refers to muscle that is independent of, and not obscured by, fat. In bodybuilding, lean muscle mass is that which is gained without a corresponding addition of fat, or remains after the fat is shed. It can also be thought of as the amount of muscle on the body independent of fat, bone and other parts.
Sermorelin is also known to reduce body fat through lipolysis. Lipolysis is the breakdown of lipids and involves hydrolysis of hydrolysis of triglycerides into glycerol and free fatty acids. Triglycerides are transported through the blood to appropriate tissues (adipose, muscle, etc.) by lipoproteins such as Very-Low-Density-Lipoproteins (VLDL). Triglycerides present on the VLDL undergo lipolysis by the cellular lipases of target tissues, which yields glycerol and free fatty acids. Free fatty acids released into the blood are then available for cellular uptake. Free fatty acids not immediately taken up by cells may bind to albumin for transport to surrounding tissues that require energy. Serum albumin is the major carrier of free fatty acids in the blood. The glycerol also enters the bloodstream and is absorbed by the liver or kidney where it is converted to glycerol 3-phosphate by the enzyme glycerol kinase. Hepatic glycerol 3-phosphate is converted mostly into dihydroxyacetonephosphate (DHAP) and then glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (GA3P) to rejoin the glycolysis and gluconeogenesis pathway.
Sermorelin Acetate also is known for it's ability to increase bone health and bone mineral density. Bone mineral density is the amount of bone mineral in bone tissue. The concept of it is the mass of mineral per volume of bone, although clinically it is measured by proxy according to optical density per square centimeter of bone surface upon imaging. Bone density measurement is used in clinical medicine as an indicator of osteoporosis and fracture risk, both of which are aggravated by frail bone structure. Measurements are most commonly made over the lumbar spine and over the upper part of the hip, though the forearm may be scanned if the hip and lumbar spine are not accessible. There is a statistical association between poor bone density and higher probability of fracture. Fractures of the legs and pelvis due to falls are a significant public health problem, especially in elderly women, leading to much medical cost, inability to live independently, and even risk of death. Bone density measurements are used to screen people for osteoporosis risk and to identify those who might benefit from measures to improve bone strength.
By improving the density of bone minerals, and increasing lean muscle mass and physical strength, both HGH therapy and sermorelin can help to prevent joint deterioration through arthritis. Optimal levels of growth hormone are essential for the health of connective tissue such as the synovium found in joints.
Through increasing your muscle mass, sermorelin also provides a benefit to your heart health. Researchers from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA found that cardiovascular disease patients who have high muscle mass and low fat mass have a lower mortality risk than those with other body compositions. The findings also suggest that regardless of a person's level of fat mass, a higher level of muscle mass helps reduce the risk of death.
The researchers examined data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 1999 to 2004, of 6,451 participants who had prevalent cardiovascular disease. Each subject was categorized into one of four groups:
low muscle/low fat mass
low muscle/high fat mass
high muscle/low fat mass
high muscle/high fat mass
Those with high muscle mass and low fat mass had the lowest risk of cardiovascular and total mortality. Our ability to exercise will obviously affect this condition, but exercise performance is reduced in people with growth hormone deficiency. This is likely do to decreased oxygen uptake, reductions in bone density, and thinning of muscle mass from age. HGH therapy and Sermorelin treatments for up to sixth months have been shown to steadily increase workout performance while improving muscle mass and oxygen uptake.
Sermorelin also has an effect on your immune system. Through increasing the amount of growth hormone in your body, sermorelin revives and rejuvenates your immune system. Growth hormone and the immune system are intertwined, and a healthy immune system is key to protecting against autoimmune disease, cancer, and infections bacteria. As we age, our immune system becomes less and less able to hold up to the onslaught of time and disease, so sermorelin kicks our defense back into high gear. By the age of forty, a lymphoid organ called the thymus shrinks in our body to about half it's original size, and this organ is responsible for producing the T cells for our immune system. Research has shown that increased growth hormone can regrow the thymus. Tests have shown Immune activities that the GH increases production of T-cells and interleukin 2, manufacture of new anti-bodies, and growth hormone has even been shown to restore stem cells in the bone marrow.
As we age, skin becomes thinner and more easily damaged, intensifying this effect is the skin increasingly weaker ability to regrow itself. Among other things, skin aging is noted by a decrease in volume and elasticity. There are many internal and external causes to skin aging. For example, aging skin receives less blood flow and lower glandular activity.
A validated comprehensive grading scale has categorized the clinical findings of skin aging as laxity (sagging), rhytids (wrinkles), and the various facets of photoaging, including erythema (redness), and telangiectasia, dyspigmentation (brown discoloration), solar elastosis (yellowing), keratoses (abnormal growths) and poor texture. But with Sermorelin or HGH therapy, skin thickness and all-important collagen is improved by the treatment, restoring it's useful glow and elasticity.
Growth Hormone produced in the pituitary gland tapers off as we age, and that can lead to a slow decrease in sexual drive and performance. The hormone plays a key roll in keeping our cells active and strong, including our heart cells. HGH will help the heart improve pumping action, and that improves your overall strength and vitality. This improves the pumping of blood throughout the body and that improves the function of sexual organs both men and women. For men it means that they can stay aroused longer, and for women it means a decrease in vaginal dryness during intercourse.
That's one way that HGH helps with sexual performance. There are others. HGH plays an important role in the regeneration of cells and tissues, as well as muscles development. This leads to better sexual and physical performance in bed. With proper levels of HGH in the body your stamina also increases and that's also going to lead to an improved sex life.
Overall, HGH deficiency seems to lead to a lower quality of life. The Quality of Life Assessment of Growth Hormone Deficiency in Adults (QoL-AGHDA) is a disease specific patient-reported outcome measure which measures the effect growth hormone deficiency has on adult patients. The score of the QoL-AGHDA is used to determine the extent to which growth hormone deficiency has affected the patient's quality of life, and what treatment can then be administered. A high score on the QoL-AGHDA indicates that the patient suffers from many symptoms and therefore has a lower quality of life
A healthy amount of HGH in the system seems to help quite a few things, with the most noticeable impacts being body image, fat distribution, energy level, concentration, memory, irritability, temper, strength, stamina, stress coping, and physical and mental drive.
