HCG Diet Dessert

Smoothies are an easy to make meal or snack option on the HCG diet and take just a few minutes to make. When you're in a hurry and don't have time to cook they can be a lifesaver and help you avoid messing up your diet protocol. Below are some fast and easy HCG safe dessert and smoothie recipes that only use ingredients allowed during Phase 2 (the very low-calorie phase) of the diet.

Basil Strawberry and Lemon HCG diet Smoothie

This strawberry smoothie is simple but delicious and is a great way to get one of your fruit servings in the form of a refreshing drink. The basil adds a unique sweet anise flavor but can be removed if it doesn't sound appealing to you.

Ingredients:

  • Juice of ¼ lemon
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • 1 Tbsp. of fresh basil, chopped
  • ¼ Tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1-2 packets of stevia
  • 8 frozen strawberries
Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend until desired texture.
  3. Serve immediately

Servings: 1 fruit

Orange and Lemon Smoothie

This is a nice refreshing citrus smoothie that only counts for one of your fruit servings. It's packed with Vitamin C and a good option to help you get through that difficult first week of the diet. Tip: put the oranges in the freezer for about half an hour prior to making this so that they are slightly frozen for a sorbet-like texture.

Ingredients:

  • Juice of ¼ lemon
  • 1 medium orange, peeled and seeded
  • 1-2 packets of Truvia
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange
Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend until desired texture.
  3. Serve immediately

Servings: 1 fruit

Mint Chocolate Smoothie

This is a great breakfast smoothie that you can pretty much drink to your heart's content because it has very few calories per serving. Make use of your extra coffee or espresso to make this smoothie or brew it throughout the day to help with your food cravings and give you an extra bit of energy. You can substitute toffee flavored stevia in this recipe for a toffee chocolate smoothie (remove the mint leaf if you do this).

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces freshly brewed strong coffee
  • Peppermint flavored stevia
  • ¼ teaspoon powdered cocoa (defatted)
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • Fresh mint leaf
Directions

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend until desired texture.
  3. Serve with mint leaf garnish

Spiced Apple Slices

These spiced apple slices make a great dessert during phase 2 and don't take much time to make, and they are a great snack idea as well. You can change the spices however you want in this recipe and you can also use orange slices instead of apple slices with this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium apple, cored and sliced thinly
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 Tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ Tsp. nutmeg
  • Stevia to taste
Directions:

  1. Mix lemon juice with spices and stevia.
  2. Add mixture to a pan and warm on low heat.
  3. Add apple slices and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium low heat.
  4. Serve immediately or refrigerate.

Servings: 1 fruit

HCG Applesauce

This applesauce recipe is HCG safe and makes two fruit servings. It is another great dessert or snack option and this one takes just minutes to make like the other recipes. You can also increase the number of apples in this recipe to make several servings, remember that each apple counts as one fruit serving and that you can have up to two fruit servings every day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples, cored peeled and diced
  • ¾ cup water
  • Stevia to taste
  • 2 Tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tsp. ground cloves
Directions:

  1. Peel core and dice the apples.
  2. Add water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil with spices added.
  3. Add apples and reduce heat to simmer.
  4. Cook covered for 14-16 minutes.
  5. Uncover saucepan and cook an additional 8-10 minutes or until excess water is almost completely reduced.
  6. Remove from heat and mash with a potato masher or large fork (allow to cool slightly first).
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate for 2 hours and serve chilled.

Servings: 2 fruit

Chocolate Strawberries

These chocolate strawberries are guilt-free and are a satisfying dessert option. They are made with chocolate stevia which can be found at health food stores or purchased online. They can be served immediately or frozen for more of a sorbet-like texture. You can also substitute oranges or apples in this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 strawberries with leaves removed and cut in half
  • Liquid chocolate stevia to taste
  • Powdered cocoa (nonfat)
Directions:

  1. Mix stevia and cocoa in a small dish.
  2. Dip strawberries in the mixture on both sides.
  3. Serve immediately or place in a ziplock bag and freeze.

Vanilla Sauce for HCG Fruit

This vanilla sauce goes great with any of the HCG diet fruit choices (strawberries, oranges, apples, or grapefruit) and adds more sweetness and flavor to the fruits without almost no extra calories. This is also a great sauce to add more flavor to many of the HCG diet smoothies. Note: if you refrigerate this sauce you can heat it back up with a few seconds in the microwave to save time.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 7-8 drops of stevia (or to taste)
Directions:

  1. Add vanilla, lemon juice, stevia and apple cider vinegar to a small saucepan.
  2. Heat sauce on low heat for 5-6 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and pour in a small bowl.
  4. Use as a dipping sauce with fresh fruit or refrigerate for later use.
