If you don't reach your weight loss goals during your first attempt of the HCG diet there is nothing to worry about because you can always try the diet a second time safely. HCG is an all-natural hormone with minimal to no side effects, and you can try as many rounds of the HCG diet as you need to try as long as you have a resting period of a minimum of six weeks before each attempt. There may be several reasons why you would like to start a second round of the HCG diet. It's possible that you did not reach your weight loss goal during the first round of the diet because perhaps you were not that familiar with the protocol or you slipped up a few times. The benefit of starting a second round of the HCG diet is that you will already be familiar with the requirements of the diet and you won't need to relearn everything.
You'll be able to jump right back into the diet once you've done a round already, and you'll know exactly what to expect. Also, your body will be better prepared for the second round of the diet and your metabolism will be responsive to HCG. You will need to wait for a period of six weeks prior to starting the second round of the diet, and this includes the three weeks of Phase 3. After Phase 3 you should wait a minimum of another three weeks, and the purpose of the waiting time is to ensure that you do not become immune to HCG. Once you start the diet again you will see results similar to what you experienced during the first round.
Before you start another round of the HCG diet you will need to continue the healthy eating patterns that you should have established during Phase 2 and 3. This includes eliminating artificial sweeteners, most simple sugars, and most grains from your diet aside from some whole grains and complex starches. Avoid the temptation to slip back into unhealthy eating habits during your break because although the HCG diet can reset your metabolism, you will be making it more difficult on yourself to transition back to the VLCD.
If you are consuming a diet of mostly fruits, vegetables and lean protein prior to starting the VLCD again you will be in the best shape to make that transition. Your body will already be accustomed to eating fruits and vegetables and there will be few if any side effects during the first few days of the VLCD. So, prior to starting another round of the diet make sure that you are eating several servings of fruits and vegetables every day, and don't slip back into any bad habits even though you can expect to lose more weight on the second round of the diet. The more effort you put into watching what you eat the better the results you'll get from the second round of the diet.
Prior to starting a second round of the diet you will need to meet with a medical doctor to get the green light to go on the diet again. Generally this will be a less detailed checkup than your first consultation, but you need to make sure that you have enough body fat to lose for the second round of the diet, and any medical issues or concerns should be discussed with your physician as well. The vast majority of the time you will be approved to go on a second round of the diet. Also, getting a second consultation will give you the peace of mind that you are in good health prior to starting another round of the diet.
Exercise regularly during the time that you have off, and if you haven't started an exercise plan it is a good idea to start one during the minimum three week period after Phase 3. Your body will benefit from regular exercise as it will help to offset the impact of any unhealthy foods that you happen to eat during the resting period. The exercise plan that you pick doesn't have to be intensive, but it should be consistent at the very least. You should also be sure to eat a minimum of three to five meals per day to ensure that you metabolism is functioning optimally while you wait to start another round of the t.
Before you start another round of the diet you will need to go through the loading phase again for the first three days of the diet; don't neglect doing this and be sure that you follow the protocol to the best of your ability. If you remember the loading phase involves eating as many natural high fat foods as possible to increase fat reserves in preparation for the HCG diet. If you need to review the diet protocol, spend the time necessary to get reacquainted with the requirements for Phase 2. Remember that if you have started to use lotions or cosmetics with an oil base that you will have to stop using them before resuming the diet.
If you had trouble with counting calories or sticking to the diet plan, try shopping for your food ahead of time before you start another round of the diet, and plan your recipes out. Also be sure to review the food list prior to starting another round of the diet to remind yourself about which foods are allowed and forbidden on the diet. You can experiment with different HCG diet recipes during your break, and try to come up with several go-to favorite recipes so that you are ready to go for the diet. You can expect great results with a second round of the diet just as you should have experienced the first time, and you will get closer to your weight loss goal or reach it as long as you follow the protocol to the best of your ability and plan your diet out thoroughly.
