If you haven’t heard about this year’s Super Bowl performance by now, you must have been living off the grid or stuck on a submarine somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic. While eager sports fans love a good football game, the thrill of the Super Bowl starts with the half-time show, is supported by the commercials, and ends with the awarding of the Vince Lombardi trophy. Though Super Bowl LIV had an incredible showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the real show came at half-time with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

Going for the Win

The audience around the world was mesmerized by the glitter, glam, and gyrating of the highly anticipated halftime show. In hip-thrusting, butt-shaking, and total body twerking routines, both Shakira and J. Lo threw it back to their Latin infused roots. They led a nation-wide dance party,  embracing their womanhood and sex appeal to get the crowd going.  For two women in their 40s and 50s, respectively, these performances were nothing short of jaw-dropping and sensational. Male or female, young or old, you can’t help but appreciate the difficulty of pulling off some of those stunts at that age. While the world sat on their couches with beer and nachos in hand, these two women were throwing down the gauntlet against aging.

Worrying About the Future

If you look at what these pop icons did and then take a hard look at your own activity levels, there is probably a small twinge of jealousy over how well these women are concealing how old they are. Okay, maybe a whole more than a twinge. Not only can they move and groove, but their skin is flawless, their hair has an amazing body, and they are toned and fit. Sure, they have makeup artists, and chefs, and trainers, and nearly unlimited resources, but these women put in the work. If you want your future years to be just as sensational and mesmerizing, you need to get busy with your anti-aging protocol.

  1. Hormones. Drawing a comparison between your looks and those of the pop starts around you isn’t really a fair assessment. Gaining weight is one of the quickest ways to visibly looking older, but the excess effort it takes to keep the internal organs of the body working will impact longevity and efficiency. Stress also hastens the look of aging, as does poor muscle tone and weak bones.
